What is GiftLaw?

GiftLaw is a service to CPAs, Attorneys, Trust Officers, Gift Planners, Life Underwriters and other professionals available only through the web sites of participating charities such as The Missouri Baptist Foundation.

Sample Language for Charitable Gifting

The Missouri Baptist Foundation exists to serve Missouri Baptists and their professional advisors in making gifts to Baptist ministries. The Foundation can provide sample language as a service to professional advisors who may be working with someone wanting to make a gift to a Baptist cause.

The Foundation’s General Counsel is available to be a resource to professional advisors and can provide sample language, sample documents, or other assistance as requested by the professional advisor.

The Legal Registry for Missouri Baptists

The Legal Registry for Missouri Baptists is a listing of attorneys who have agreed to have their names referred to Missouri Baptists who are seeking counsel in the estate planning area. The Missouri Baptist Foundation and Future Generations provided the opportunity to attorneys statewide to be included on the registry. The registry is updated periodically as other attorneys request inclusion on the registry.

The criteria for being included on the registry are:

Knowledge of estate planning.
Knowledgeable of charitable giving tools in estate planning.
Willing to accommodate the client’s desire for a reasonable turn-around time in the preparation of documents.
Willing to share a basic schedule of fees a client might anticipate paying for services.
Carry professional liability insurance in a minimum amount of $100,000 per occurrence and $300,000 in the aggregate.

The fees that may be required for the services needed to meet a particular estate planning need is a matter that should be discussed by the client with the attorney before employing the attorney to perform services.
