Who are
the Harvesters?
The
Harvesters are retired employees of the Missouri Baptist Convention
and other entities in Missouri Baptist life. They just voted to broaden
their membership to include retired directors of missions. Spouses
also participate. The purpose is primarily fellowship. The Foundation
contributes significantly to the organization, maintains mailing and
e-mail directories, activates prayer-chain requests and facilitates
meeting and travel arrangements.
The
group elects officers that become a program and executive committee
on an annual basis. Harvesters meet once a year for a ‘holiday’ meal
around Thanksgiving/Christmas. They have a spring meeting and they
have started to do some travel day-trips and brief over night trips.
We enlist institutions to host specific meetings to minimize cost
and the institutions have an opportunity to bring brief reports when
the Harvesters meet. They were once the ‘movers and shakers’ in Mo
Baptist life as far as vocational involvement and it is a rich resource
for volunteers, gifting, prayer support and goodwill ambassadors.
The Foundation is the founding partner of Harvesters. |
